Are children welcome?

Yes, well behaved children are more than welcome.  For very small children we have included a set of children’s cutlery and drinks beakers in the kitchen, safety covers in the electrical sockets, a step stool to reach the wash basin and a low energy bulb in the hall, which you might want to leave on at night.  The TV features three children’s channels and there are also a few books and games.

Is it suitable for disabled or people with walking difficulties?

The apartment is on the second floor and is just a few feet from the lift, with no steps between the two.  Downstairs, it is a level 10 yard walk from the lift to the nearest car drop off point.

Do we need a car?

If you don’t have a car we can advise you about airport connections, and you’ll easily be able to get round the small village of Kapparis and its beach, shops, restaurants and bars.  Taxis are available in the village.
However, a car is recommended as it gives you the freedom to explore not only the nearby towns of Protaras, Ayia Napa and Paralimni but a wider area too.

How far is it from the airport?

The nearest airport is Larnaca (55km) and it is about an hour’s drive.  Paphos Airport is further away and you should allow 1¾ hours by car.

How far is it from the beach?

The nearest beach is Fireman’s Beach, so named because the fire service trains there.  It’s approximately 500m away and is a 5 – 10 minute stroll.

What is there to do in the area?

Plenty!  In Kapparis there are several restaurants and bars as well as a picturesque beach and plenty of water sports – water skiing, parasailing, kayaking, diving etc.
In the nearby resorts of Protaras and Ayia Napa there are plenty more beaches, water sports and clubs as well as bowling, shooting, horse riding, fishing trips, mini golf, boat trips, go karting etc.
At nearby Capo Greko, there is a large National Forest Park to explore, with a nature reserve, hiking trails, natural bridge and sea caves, whilst just 2 km inland is the interesting little town of Paralimni with its cafes, parks, churches and shops.

Do we get English TV?

Yes - there is a Satellite TV package which includes several English Language channels, although not necessarily the ones you'd recognise from home.  Don’t forget too that there’s a CD / DVD player in the apartment, so you can always take – or rent – your favourite films and music.

Can you help us with our travel plans?

Yes, of course.  But first, check out the travel guidance on this site – it may answer what you need to know.

Are there many restaurants or bars nearby?

Within walking distance there is a wide variety of restaurants, including Cypriot, Greek, Italian, Chinese and British.  Be sure to sample the traditional Cyprus meze, a meal of up to fourteen dishes comprising of delicacies local to Cyprus.  There are also plenty of Cypriot and British style bars in the village.

Is the pool heated?

No – it doesn’t really need to be owing to the year round sun, although you will find it a bit on the cool side through the winter when the sea can often be warmer.

Can we keep in touch with home?

There’s no phone in the apartment, but there are nearby call boxes and an Internet café within a few minutes’ walk.  Local SIM cards are cheap and available in most stores (Orpahnides has an in-store phone shop), so take a spare mobile handset if you’ll be using the phone a lot.  Calls and texts tend to be a lot cheaper than with UK mobiles.
